Narrative
Bound by spells, Agatha Harkness regains her freedom thanks to the help of a teenager. Intrigued by his plea, she embarks on the Witches' Road Trip to regain her powers and uncover the teen’s motivations. Stars Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Debra Jo Rupp, and Ali Ann, along with showrunner Jaco Schaeffer and executive producer Mary Livanos, shared how they prepared for the Marvel show. The exterior scenes of Westview were filmed on Blondie Street at Warner Bros.
The set was previously used for Wandavision
Agatha lives in the house used in the TV series Bewitched (1964).. Link to WatchMojo: Top 10 Most Shocking Disney Plus Day Reveals (2021). I came into Agatha All Along with no preconceived ideas or any backstory. So it wasn’t until I was deep into it and watching Episode 6 (?) that I realized it had a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — specifically, WandaVision.
I felt cheated and annoyed
Well, once I got into Agatha All Along, I paused it and had to watch WandaVision. While WandaVision has some critical element to the story of Agatha All Along, it’s a pretty tangential (and — IMO — much smaller show than Agatha All Along. Well, I finished E6, then got into E7-E9 and had to really give it a show credit. The acting is excellent across the board, with Hahn as Agatha standing out.
And it doesn’t unduly detract from the overall show
The scenes, by the way, have an original perspective on how the show moves. Above all, the trials the characters go through and their growth are well done. The show maintains an engaging adult storyline, none of the usual candy where everyone ends up okay in the end. While I don’t think the MCU connection was necessary, it is.
